RELATING WAVE GEOMETRY AND SURFACE DYNAMICS TO SUBSURFACE VELOCITIES

نویسندگان

چکیده

Quantifying subsurface velocity in the surf-zone beneath shoaling/breaking/broken waves is critical to accurately predict nearshore processes such as sediment transport [Hsu and Hanes, 2004]. The in-situ instruments designed measure this where break, velocimeters, routinely get buried, broken, or lost surf-zone. This limits our ability collect field datasets of energetic wave conditions. To address this, we propose build on known relationships that link behavior more easily observable surface signatures. Here, necessary data test hypothesis measurements can profiles extending bed.

Relating Cortical Wave Dynamics to Learning and Remembering

Electrical waves propagate across sensory and motor cortices in stereotypical patterns. These waves have been described as potentially facilitating sensory processing when they travel through sensory cortex, as guiding movement preparation and performance when they travel across motor cortex, and as possibly promoting synaptic plasticity and the consolidation of memory traces, especially during...

the study of bright and surface discrete cavity solitons dynamics in saturable nonlinear media

the effect of pore geometry on seismic wave velocities in carbonate rocks from hydrocarbon reservoirs

the goal of this laboratory study is to investigate the effect of pore shapes on seismic wave velocities in carbonate rocks under reservoir conditions. in this research, 41 core plugs of carbonate rocks from oil fields of the southwest of iran were prepared. the compressional and shear wave velocities were measured in both dry and brine saturated samples under several pressures especially reser...

Relationship between head wave amplitudes and seismic refraction velocities to detect lateral variation in the refractor

Refractor ambiguities are big problem in seismic refraction method especially in seismic engineering. There can be hidden subsurface geological phenomena such as hidden faults and shear zones which are not simply predicted by the travel-time graph or some geophysical methods. Head wave amplitudes are used to show the resolution of refractor ambiguities and the existence of anisotropy in complex...

Deducing Subsurface Property Gradients from Surface Wave Dispersion Data

My talk deals with the same subject as that of the previous speaker, Dr. Szabo, except I am not going to assert that it involves residual stresses necessarily. I consider some kind of a perturbation of the elastic properties and/or density due to some kind of surface treatment. As in all problems of this kind I assume, at least for the time being, some kind of an ansatz about mutual proportiona...
